About Grip Circus Theatre
Grip was founded in 1998 by Charlie Hull who continues to run the company with the assistance of other workshop leaders and performers.

Charlie learned to juggle in 1992 at Cambridge Community Circus and soon became interested in other circus skills such as diabolo, stiltwalking and trapeze. Charlie then trained at The Circus Space as a trapeze artist and also began to perform and teach circus skills to many different audiences across the East of England.

Charlie recruited three performers and developed Grip's first large-scale aerial show, Between the Trees, which premiered at Wysing Arts near Cambridge in April 1999. Over the next two years, Between the Trees was performed at venues as far apart as Suffolk and North Yorkshire.

Taking a break from large scale shows in 2001, Charlie worked with many others to set up the Circus Arts Forum, the U.K.'s first national organisation representing the circus arts. Charlie has also contributed to R.I.C.S.A.T., an organisation setting standards and creating training for circus rigging.

Charlie is highly active in both the amateur and professional circus world, having run juggling and circus skills Conventions, set up award schemes for performers and helps run a worldwide email service for jugglers.

He is an experienced performer, workshop leader, show producer and director, full of enthusiasm for his profession.
